Ministries in the Church

If you are interested in participating in the ministries of Emmanuel Episcopal, contact the people listed below if you know them, or contact the Church Office to get connected!

Altar Guild

“Behind the scenes” ministry that prepares the Sanctuary and the Altar for services. Members ensure that the liturgical colors are changed as needed, linens used at communion are clean, Holy vessels and linens are maintained and cared for, candles are filled and all things shiny are polished. It is a work of love and service to our Lord. Training is available to anyone interested in serving. Contact Mother Karen or Barbara Mars.

Lay Eucharistic Minister

Lay Eucharistic Minister (LEM) serves on a rotating basis at the Altar, assisting the Rector with preparation of the table and distribution of communion.Must be 18 and participate in training to be certified as a Lay Eucharistic Minister. Contact Mother Karen.

Ushers/Greeters

Greet those arriving for services, hand out service sheets, assist visitors with directions to our nursery, bathrooms or a place to sit. Will notify the LEM or Rector if anyone needs to have communion brought to them due to mobility issues preventing them from coming to the Altar rail. Contact Toni Cheshire.

Acolytes

Children age 8 and up that participate in the service carrying the processional cross, torches and Gospel book and assist with other duties at the altar. Training is available. Contact Mother Karen.

Breakfast Ministry

Food is love; and this congregation loves to nibble between services on Sunday mornings. So, whether you come to the 8:30 service, the 10:30 service, or Sunday School, you will typically find an opportunity to converse with the people of this church from about 9 - 10:30 a.m. The first Sunday of the month is often a more robust breakfast. If you would like to get involved, contact Joni Foster or Jolene Boring.

Lunch Ladies

A group of ladies (and men) who provide meals to parishioners undergoing surgery as needed. Contact Barbara Mars or Paige Hanks.

Ministry to Elders

Help us stay in touch with our home bound parishioners to keep them involved with church, take Holy Communion to them on a rotating basis and alert the Rector of any special needs. Contact Mother Karen or Jodi Lane.

Sunday School Teachers

Provide Christian Formation classes for children and adults. Contact Barbara Mars or Lynn Lewis.

Music Ministry

Music at Emmanuel is an important part of our worship. This ministry is led by Julie Michie, assisted by Fletcher Clark and the “Original Sinners” guitar group. It is said that he who sings prays twice and we are truly blessed to have such dedicated volunteers serving in this ministry. For information on how you can get involved in the music ministry at Emmanuel, contact Julie Michie.
